(eds.), "Isfījāb - اسفيجاب " in The Beth Qaṭraye Gazetteer last modified January 10, 2020, https://bqgazetteer.bethmardutho.org/place/5317 Isfījāb اسفيجاب Asbījāb أسبيجاب [A] town and an extensive district of mediaeval Islamic Central Asia, identifiable with the later Islamic town of Sayram. Popular etymologising saw in the name the Persian component sipīd , ispīd "white".
