          A region (iqlīm) next to the region of al-Shām. Ḏj̲azīrat Aḳūr or Iḳlīm Aḳūr, also briefly called al-Ḏj̲azīra, is the name given by the Arab geographers to the northern part of the land between the Euphrates and the Tigris.
