(eds.), "al-Ghūṭa - الغوطة " in The Beth Qaṭraye Gazetteer last modified January 10, 2020, https://bqgazetteer.bethmardutho.org/place/5032 al-Ghūṭa الغوطة Ghouta The G̲h̲ūṭa of Dimas̲h̲ḳ [q.v.] is the area of gardens and orchards which surrounds the former Umayyad capital below the gorges of Rabwa and which is made fertile by a close network of irrigation trenches fed by the Baradā [q.v.]. The G̲h̲ūṭa extends from the eastern slopes of Mount Ḳāsiyūn [q.v.] as far as the streams and the water brought in from the Baradā allow bushes to be grown.
